The brisk breeze met me

as I opened the door.

My body and mind sigh

with relief

after the days and days

of extended summer.

“Finally,” I whispered

to the dawning day.

Finally, the weather matches

the date on the calendar.

Finally, the intrusive Columbia summer heat

has been quelled.

Finally.

And even in the midst of my gratitude,

I miss the blazing sun.
