Balancing Out

We hadn’t seen each other in a year, but as we hugged, it was like we were still roommates.

It is those kinds of relationships that will last forever. I don’t mean they remain stagnant, but that they grow and change as the two individuals change. She used to be a biology major, I used to be a teacher and now we were learning to answer a call to ministry and balance what we knew would be a lifelong calling with our lives. We understood ministry was a different profession than most and we didn’t have to explain that to each other because we were each experiencing it everyday.

Even though I wasn’t there for more than 24 hours, it was enough for now. It was enough to remember where we had come from. It was enough to remember we needed the connection to balance out the demands of ministry. It was enough to remember that we could be silly and fun by run a 5K and ending up looking like a dyed Easter egg.

It was enough to keep breathing and keep walking in faith.
