A Bouquet of Sharpened Pencils

I heard the last squeals of summer from the kids at the pool today. It reminded me of how strange it is to not be at the store frantically buying composition books and folders.

I’ve just received my acceptance to Gardner-Webb Divinity School! I am going back to school this fall and will be the student rather than the teacher.

It’s scary to take a risk and try a new path, but I’m finally holding myself to the same expectations that I ask of my students. If I had realized how much I was asking of my students, I would have been much more supportive and encouraging.

Opening yourself to new possibilities requires making yourself vulnerable. It means being honest and open. It means being yourself.

F0r me, that’s much more nerve-wracking than 25 eager students armed with brand new liquid glue sticks.
