I was interested to hear Danica’s reaction to her most recent record. She was the first woman to win the Daytona 500 pole. She doesn’t mind the spotlight she says, but she likes the records and reports that put her in line with other racers rather than putting her on show as a woman racer.
There may not seems to be a difference to many and it’s not that she doesn’t recognize the history she’s making, she just doesn’t want it to always be about her gender.
I get her. I like her. I’ll keep watching, even when she does crash into walls.
