There’s something about summer that makes time stand still. There’s no rushing to school in the early morning. No afternoon push to get homework done.
There’s time and space for lingering. Time to stop and watch the turtles as their heads pop out of the pond water. Time to hunt for toads and build toad houses. Time to stop and watch bearing witness to the everyday magic that surrounds us. The everyday magic that we mostly miss as we hustle from one thing to the other.
Even as time stands still in the summer light, I wonder if I can hold onto this magic as we move into another month. Will I remember as the leaves start to change and a new season whispers in the cooler breeze?
I can’t be sure, but I can be here now reveling in the summer magic in all its beauty.
